Many
people are familiar with the silver-mercury amalgam filling,
which was the standard filling material for restorations for
many years. It worked reasonably well with some
shortcomings. The metal did not form a tight bond with the
tooth, allowing decay to eventually form under the filling.
Many people did not like the appearance of a dark plug in
their teeth that was noticeable when smiling, laughing, or
speaking. We offer our patients composite resin fillings
that bind very well to the remaining tooth structure and can
match the shade of the tooth. This reduces any chance of
